It will be an assembly line form of work.  We will be cutting magnets, applying magnets, corner rounding, building boxes, filling the boxes with the finished product.  This is the same job we did last year around this time.  It is a language flash card kit.  We could use a couple of people if you have them available now for our Canva and normal production in the meantime.   Shifts would be day 8-5 Monday-Friday and swing that would be 2pm-10pm or 4pm-12am Sunday-Thursday.  There are multiple places that I can use people and there will be opportunities to stay on through peak.   Pay would be at $17.00 hour.  We are on the hunt for material handlers along with machine operators.  I hope this answers the questions if not just let me know.

Other positions:

Press Room: Will be monitoring printers, loading jobs to the print que for review, changing inks (they are like aerosol hairspray containers (take the seal off, pull the old cartridge off and put the new one on), loading printers with paper.  Need to be computer savvy, working in multiple windows.  They will also be running product from the Press Room to the Finishing shop. Could be taking out trash, and basic clean up of the shop area (not janitorial cleaning…but product scraps).

Saddle stitcher: They will need one assisting with a Digital Lizard employee running an automated saddle stitcher.  Another temp or two will be running a manual saddle stitcher, it is foot peddle operated (like a sewing machine).  This is a standing position. There will be constant movement and we will need to make sure that we have someone who can be on their feet for 8 hours. Needs to have great attention to detail.  This will be a lot of hand work.

Shrinkwrapper: Just what is sounds like, shrinkwrapping the completed books with an automated machine.  lifting up to 50 lbs

Shipper: Just like with Shutterfly, using the computer to print shipping labels and prepping them to go out. Lifting of 50 lbs consistently

Scoring:  Scoring refers to the process of making a crease in paper so it will fold easier.

Basically, a paper score is a ridge that is indented into the paper where the fold line will occur. This indention is made using a blunt metal edge – from either a wheel or a rule – that compresses the paper fibers to create a hinge-like area. This “hinge” is what allows for smoother folding.

Scoring also helps improve the appearance of the fold because it provides a consistent guideline as well as reduces the potential for the paper to buckle or crack. In addition, scored paper is less likely to cause harm to toner-type inks or thicker clear coats during the folding operation.
