Trust Assistant/Paralegal-05/11 Melanie has been working with the client to confirm this position. The position was confirmed yesterday. They are looking for an Trust Assistant/Paralegal. This is a Monday-Friday position, and the shift is 8am-5pm. The wage for this position is $15hr-$18hr DOE. This position requires a background check and a drug test.

Requirements:

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

This position involves the general administration of trusts, guardianships, and other fiduciary relationships of the company. The job requires a keen attention to detail and a complete mastery of the various computer systems (training will be provided). The Trust Assistant & Legal Associate needs to enjoy people and be able to personally interact in a gracious, yet firm matter with all trust beneficiaries and their professional advisors. Being an independent worker and realizing the importance of quick and accurate work to meet deadlines is very important. At least seventy percent of Trust Assistant & Legal Associate’s net billable time shall be billed at the appropriate billing rate. Therefore, the person who holds this position needs to be organized and be able to delegate non-billable time to clerical staff.

TRUST ASSISTANT DUTIES: The Trust Assistant & Legal Associate will provide administrative assistance to Trust Officers and Trust Administrators including:

• Interfacing with clients, professional advisors, and vendors

• Legal assistance

• Research projects and tasks based upon unique trust matters, and the 

preparation of reports or memo’s summarizing findings

• Preparation, editing and/or printing of letters

• Completion of forms, applications, or other documents

• Manage various tasks which span over weeks and months and require follow up 

and completion


BILLABLE TIME. The Trust Assistant & Legal Associate will be responsible to bill at least seventy percent of net billable time. Net billable time is the total annual work hours less vacation, sick leave, holidays, and staff meetings, etc

FIDUCIARY ADMINISTRATION. The Trust Assistant & Legal Associate may be assigned as contact person for certain accounts with a beneficiary. This may include supervision of personal care and interfacing with the beneficiary’s professional advisors. All transactions shall be clearly documented. This person must be courteous and sensitive to beneficiaries who may be physically or mentally disabled, as well as their professional advisors. It is expected that in the next few years several new accounts will be added to the caseload.

LEGAL ASSOCIATE & OTHER DUTIES: The Trust Assistant & Legal Associate will assist the attorneys in our office regarding legal issues of potential and existing fiduciary matters. This may include:

• providing analysis and recommendations to the President and CEO of complex 

legal issues including legal reviews of documents prior to our acceptance as 

fiduciary.

• completing legal research on fiduciary matters in Washington State or industry 

wide best practices.

• interfacing with outside attorneys, beneficiaries, and other professionals to 

resolve legal issues.

• providing legal advice to other employees to assist them in administering their 

fiduciary relationships.
