Andrew Tackett ( ATackett@spokanetransit.com ) emailed and needs one Planning Department Intern to start June 2021.    the internship will last until early early or mid fall depending on candidates schedule.  Will report to Kristine Williams and Kathleen Weinand ( kweinand@spokanetransit.com ). Callout to both Andrew Tackett and Kathleen Weinand. Schedule will be 20 hrs a week and very flexible but during normal business hours. Will require an interview to be setup through Andrew Tackett. We would like to have a background check, driving record, as they may drive STA vehicles occasionally.  .

A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in transportation policy and planning, urban planning, marketing, public health, civil engineering, public policy or related fields or experience equivalent to an undergraduate degree in these or related fields, is desired. Qualified undergraduate students will be considered where skills, experience and interest merit consideration.

The Transit Planning Intern will provide direct support to the Department of Planning and Development. Tasks will include research, data analysis, report generation, drafting correspondence, assisting with meetings and outreach, conducting field observations, and other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will have strong organizational and analytic skills and demonstrate proficiency in both oral and written communication. Preferred computer skills include Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Candidate should be a self-starter, able to work independently and manage a variety of demanding and competing deadlines. Must possess the ability to handle sensitive issues with diplomacy and poise. Familiarity with transit operations a plus.
